Mark Thompson (owner) started his dog training career in 1984 in South Florida.initially with  Canine Counseler. Mark has trained dogs for Police work, handicap assistance, epilepsy alert, hearing assistance, obedience, protection, In home dog training, and more. Mark’s training handles behavior modification and excellent canine
etiquette. His speciality being canine aggression modification.

New Leash On Life Program

In 2005 Betterdog started training inmates to train dogs in the New Leash on Life Program.  Inmates learn to care for and train unadoptable dogs.  The inmates are paired with dogs, and work on their training every day.  High level responsibilities include cleaning kennels, feeding, grooming, training and simply love.  Dogs remain in the prison for 8 weeks, after graduation  they are adopted to an approved family.  This program is highly successful.  National statistics show inmates who participate in these
types of programs are far less likely to be repeat offenders.  This amazing program truly benefits all involved. Both inmates
and dogs are provided opportunities to succeed in life. We also strive to support our community in other ways by
offering donated training and supplies to charitable organizations.
